Dan Stevens and Aubrey Plaza to star in X-Men TV spin-off Legion

The Guest leading man Dan Stevens and Parks and Recreation favourite Aubrey Plaza are to star in Legion, a new TV series inspired by the X-Men comics.

The pair will be joined by Jean Smart and Rachel Keller, both of whom were key members of the cast of the latest series of Fargo.

Legion will be adapted from the Marvel comic character first introduced in New Mutants in 1985 and focuses on Stevens' David Haller, a man with a troubled past and a history of visions that have been interpreted as mental illness, but, as it soon becomes apparent, these visions might be more real than people think.

The show's pilot has been written by Fargo showrunner Noah Hawley and will film in March, after which a decision will be made on whether to take the show forwards.

It has been produced by Hawley alongside X-Men regular producers Bryan Singer, Lauren Shuler Donner, Simon Kinberg.
