Disney now planning live-action The Sword In The Stone remake

Disney have added The Sword In The Stone to the list of planned live-action adaptations of their animated classics.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Bryan Cogman, the writer responsible for seven episodes of Game Of Thrones, including the controversial "Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken' in the show's most recent series, has been commissioned to write the screenplay for the new adaptation.

Cogman, who is currently working on a movie adaptation of the hugely popular card game Magic: The Gathering, will rework the 1963 animation into a new live-action blockbuster.

The Sword In The Stone tells the story of young King Arthur, how he was mentored by the great wizard Merlin and how he came to be head of the Knights of the Round Table. It is one of Disney's most beloved animations and is available to purchase here in our online store.

This is the latest in Disney's spate of live-action orders that follows the success of 2014's Maleficent and this year's box office smash Cinderella.

As well as all these, new adaptations of Beauty And The Beast, Prince Charming, Pinnochio, Aladdin, Mulan, Dumbo and The Jungle Book are currently in either production or developlment.
