Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson in talks to voice a leading role in Disney's Moana
Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson has entered talks to voice one of the leading roles in Disney's new animated epic Moana.
Earlier this year, the film's release date was moved forward from 2018 to 2016 and producers have now begun seeking a high-profile voice cast, which according to The Wrap, includes Johnson.
The film will be under the control of The Little Mermaid and Aladdin directors Ron Clements and John Musker and follows the adventures of Moana Waialiki, a Polynesian sea-voyager, navigator and chief's daughter.
In the movie she will embark on a journey across the sea to find a fabled island, and, in the process of doing so, teams up with Maui, a demi-god, who helps her battle a series of deadly challenges, including enormous sea monsters, on her long journey. Johnson is in talks to play Maui.
Speaking about the movie, Musker said in a statement: "Moana is indomitable, passionate and a dreamer with a unique connection to the ocean itself. She's the kind of character we all root for, and we can't wait to introduce her to audiences."
