Edgar Wright to direct Star Trek 3?
Shaun Of The Dead and Hot Fuzz director Edgar Wright could be set to direct the third instalment of Star Trek, according to reports over the weekend.
Wright departed Ant-Man earlier this year and is currently working on Baby Driver, a project described as "a collision of crime, action, music and sound", but has now been linked with taking the directorial reins on the follow-up to Star Trek Into Darkness.
What is confirmed is that Robert Orci, who acted as both writer and producer on Star Trek and Star Trek Into Darkness, will now no longer direct the third instalment. Orci had been announced as the film's director earlier this year, replacing JJ Abrams who left to work on Star Wars, but has now returned to his role as producer.
Now, however, Orci will simply produce the third instalment, meaning a new director is required. According to Deadline, Edgar Wright isn't the only name in the frame for the director's chair, but he's the only one they name as being on producers' shortlist.
