Final season of Game Of Thrones could be pushed to 2019, HBO reveal

The final season of Game Of Thrones could be delayed until 2019, HBO's programming president Casey Bloys has said.

The show's seventh season begins on July 17th in the UK with seven episodes to be broadcast, a break from the show's traditional 10-episode season structure.

An eight-episode final season was expected to arrive in 2018, but speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Bloys said that the show could arrive as late as 2019, it simply depends on whether showrunners David Benioff and D. B. Weiss feel ready to go.

Asked about this and whether the final season could arrive in 2019, Bloys said: "They (Benioff and Weiss) have to write the episodes and figure out the production schedule. We’ll have a better sense of that once they get further into the writing."

Bloys also confirmed that Weiss or Benioff will be involved in the ongoing development of spin-offs as they will be focusing on the final season.
