HBO confirms talks have begun with George R R Martin over Game Of Thrones spin-off
HBO's head of programming has confirmed that talks have begun with George R R Martin over a Game Of Thrones spin-off.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, the network’s programming president Casey Bloys has said that negotiations have begun, but it's very early days.
Asked about the spin-off and if there was a moment in the Game Of Thrones' canon that they would be focusing on, he said: "I would say it’s still kind of preliminary ongoing talks. There are areas we are exploring, but I wouldn’t point to any one and say, ‘This is what we’re going to do.’"
Game Of Thrones' sixth season was released on Monday, a change from the previous routine which had seen the DVD coming out only a few weeks before the following season hit TV screens.
Season seven is due to hit screens next year, but will come to screens later than its usual April slot, with a summer arrival expecting for a seven-episode run.
