HBO's Girls to end after six seasons

Girls, HBO's critically acclaimed drama, is to end after its sixth season is broadcast. 

Created and starring Lena Dunham, the show has run for four seasons so far, with a fifth due to begin next month. 

But, according to the Hollywood Reporter, this will be the show's penultimate run with its sixth season acting as the finale in 2017. 

Girls follows the lives and loves of four girls in their early 20s on the bustling streets of New York.

As well as Dunham it starred Allison Williams, Jemima Kirke, Zosia Mamet, Alex Karpovsky and Adam Driver, who many of who will now know from his role as Kylo Ren in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
