2015 has been an incredible year for movies, we've had stomping blockbusters like Jurassic World, Furious 7 and Avengers: Age Of Ultron, brilliant dramas like Ex Machina and Sicario, hilarious comedies like Spy and Ted 2 and so much more besides. But there's only a few days left of this year and it's time to move on to next year. 

So, in that spirit, over the next seven days we'll be previewing 70 of the movies you can look forward to next year. Today it's time for prequels, sequels and remakes...

 

London Has Fallen

 

What Is It?

The sequel to hit action smash-em-up Olympus Has Fallen, last time the White House was under attack, this time it’s London.

 

Any plot details?

After surviving a terrorist attack on the White House in the original movie, this time Gerard Butler's Secret Service Agent Mike Banning and Aaron Eckhart's President Benjamin Asher are in London for the funeral of the British Prime Minister, who has died under mysterious circumstances. While in London Asher suddenly finds himself caught up in a deadly plot to kill the world's most powerful leaders and once again turns to Banning to save him.

 

Who’s In It?

Aaron Eckhart and Gerard Butler return as President Asher and Banning respectively, while Morgan Freeman is also back. They are joined by Charlotte Riley, who will play a kickass MI6 agent.

 

When Can I See It?

You’ve not got too long to wait, it’ll hit cinemas on March 4th.

The Purge 3

 

What Is It?

The third instalment of the action horror franchise, set on the single night where all crime is legal.

 

Any plot details?

Not much at this stage, director James DeMonaco has denied rumours that this will be an origin story about how The Purge began, but he’s not given away much more than that.

 

Who’s In It?

Frank Grillo, who led the way in sequel The Purge: Anarchy, returns to star once again, this time he’s joined by Once Upon A Time’s Elizabeth Mitchell and Homicide: Life on the Street’s Kyle Secor.

 

When Can I See It?

Summer time, it’ll hit UK cinemas on July 1st.

Now You See Me: The Second Act

 

What Is It?

The sequel to the hugely successful thriller about four magicians and one incredible heist, this time with the addition of the world’s most famous wizard.

 

Any plot details?

A year after outwitting the FBI and pulling off an incredible heist, The Four Horsemen are back for a comeback performance which they hope will expose the unethical practices of a tech magnate. Trouble is, he wants to blackmail them into pulling off their most incredible heist yet...

 

Who’s In It?

Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Mark Ruffalo, Dave Franco, Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine all return and they’re joined by Masters of Sex star Lizzie Caplan and the boy wizard himself Daniel Ratcliffe.

 

When Can I See It?

Summer time, June 10th to be precise.

Neighbours 2

 

What Is It?

The warring neighbours are back for another round.

 

Any plot details?

After they downed tools and shook hands at the end of the first movie, married couple Mac and Kelly Radner are forced to recruit their former rowdy neighbours Pete and Teddy in an effort to combat their new nemesis, the sorority next door...

 

Who’s In It?

Zac Efron, Rose Byrne, Seth Rogen and Dave Franco are all back and this time they’re joined by new rowdy neighbours Chloë Grace Moretz and Kiersey Clemons.

Star Trek Beyond

 

What Is It?

The third instalment in the rebooted Star Trek franchise, with time with Justin Lin at the controls after JJ Abrams left to direct a little-known movie called Star Wars...

 

Any plot details?

After surviving the wrath of Benedict Cumberbatch’s Khan the crew are in trouble again, but this time for very different reasons. This time the crew find themselves destitute after being attacked by a powerful unstoppable wave of unknown aliens, who destroy the Enterprise and leave them stranded on a new planet where they find themselves in conflict with a new ruthless enemy.

 

Who’s In It?

Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Simon Pegg, Karl Urban, Zoe Saldana, John Cho and Anton Yelchin are all back, while Idris Elba will play the as yet unnamed villain.

 

When Can I See It?

Summer, July 22nd to be exact.

The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist

 

What Is It?

The follow-up to the 2013 horror smash, this time taking the scares to our own shores.

 

Any plot details?

This time the movie focuses on the notorious haunting that took place in a council house in Enfield in 1977 and were depicted in Sky’s excellent drama An Enfield Haunting.

 

Who’s In It?

Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson return to star as paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren.

 

When Can I See It?

June 10th, a summer scare-a-thon.

Jack Reacher: Never Go Back

 

What Is It?

The second run-out for Tom Cruise as Lee Child’s bestselling detective.

 

Any plot details?

This is what we know so far; the movie begins with Reacher returning to the headquarters of his old unit, only to find out he's now accused of a murder that happened 16 years ago.

 

Who’s In It?

Cruise is back, but Rosamund Pike is not, instead this time it’s How I Met Your Mother star Cobie Smulders and Straight Outta Compton’s Aldis Hodge in the key supporting roles.

 

When Can I See It?

It’s due in cinemas on October 21st next year.

It’ll probably be a while as filming only began a few weeks ago.

 

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Half Shell

 

What Is It?

The second in Michael Bay’s new super-charged adaptation of the classic kids’ TV show.

 

Any plot details?

This time the turtles are not only up against their old foe Shredder, but a new crackpot scientist with his eyes on causing the end of the world. Fortunately they’ve got some help from Casey Jones, a vigilante with some serious power.

 

Who’s In It?

Megan Fox and Will Arnett are back and they’re joined by Arrow star Stephen Amell, Gone Girl’s Tyler Perry and Grimm’s Brian Tee.  

 

When Can I See It?

June 3rd, so early summer.

Jumanji

 

What Is It?

A reboot/reimagining of the 1995 classic.

 

Any plot details?

None. We assume it’s quite close to the original Jumanji where young Alan Parrish plays a old board game that can bring the world’s deadliest beasts to your door, but it may well have a new plot and sheen.

 

Who’s In It?

No one knows yet, but Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ Jonathan Liebesman is in the director’s chair.

 

When Can I See It?

It’s currently due in cinemas on Christmas Day next year.

Nope, they’re still in pre-production.



Point Break

 

What Is It?

A remake of the iconic 1991 movie.

 

Any plot details?

This is the story of FBI agent Johnny Utah, a rookie who is given the task of investigating a string of robberies being committed by a gang of extreme athletes.

In a bid to catch them, Johnny goes undercover to infiltrate the gang and ends up developing a friendship with the group, in particular their charismatic leader Bodhi.



Who’s In It?

Luke Bracey takes the role of Johnny Utah, a role played in the 1991 by Keanu Reeves, while Edgar Ramirez is Bodhi, who was previously portrayed by Patrick Swayze. Delroy Lindo and Bojesse Christopher also have key roles in the new movie.

 

When Can I See It?

It’s due out in the UK on February 12th.
