2015 has been an incredible year for movies, we've had stomping blockbusters like Jurassic World, Furious 7 and Avengers: Age Of Ultron, brilliant dramas like Ex Machina and Sicario, hilarious comedies like Spy and Ted 2 and so much more besides. But there's only a few days left of this year and it's time to move on to next year.

So, in that spirit, over the next seven days we'll be previewing 70 of the movies you can look forward to next year. Today it's our final instalment and it's the best family films of 2016...

 

Finding Dory

 

What is it?

Sequel to the hugely popular Disney/Pixar animation Finding Nemo.

 

Any plot details?

This time around the plot revolves around Nemo's buddy Dory, a Blue Tang Fish who suffers from short-term memory loss who suddenly remembers something about her past and sets off on a mission to find her parents.

 

Who's in it?

Ellen DeGeneres provides the voice of Dory, while the rest of the voice cast includes Idriss Elba, Dominic West, Diane Keaton and Willem Defoe, among many, many others.

 

When can I see it?

The long-awaited sequel is due to arrive in UK cinemas on July 29th

Kung Fu Panda 3

 

What is it?

The third instalment in the Kung Fu Panda series of animated films

 

Any plot details?

Po is finally reunited with his biological father, who takes him to his homeland; a village full of pandas deep in the mountains. However, Po's peace and happiness is short-lived; an old foe of master Oogway's named Kai returns to wreak havoc on the Valley of Peace, destroying it and much of the Jade Palace before setting his sights on finding Po and dishing out the same treatment to the panda village. Po must progress to the next stage of his kung fi mastery and become a teacher, training the pandas to fight their new enemy

 

Who's in it?

The usual cast of familiar voices all return, including Jack Black providing the voice of Po alongside Angelina Jolie, Dustin Hoffman, Jackie Chan, Lucy Liu and David Cross. New additions to the cast include Bryan Cranston as Po's father Li, as well as J.K. Simmons as the new villain Kai.

 

When can I see it?

It'll be hitting cinema screens in the UK on March 19th.

Alice Through the Looking Glass

 

What is it?

The sequel to Tim Burton's 2010 film Alice in Wonderland, also based on the writings of Lewis Carroll

 

Any plot details?

The film is loosely based on Caroll's sequel to Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, although in the film Alice has been back in the real world for several years rather than months, following in the footsteps of her sailor father and travelling the oceans of the world. When she returns to London and ends up back in Wonderland via a portal in a magic mirror, she encounters a new and sinister inhabitant who goes by the name of Time, personified as half-clock, half-human. Alice must seek his help to assist the Mad Hatter, who has not been himself recently...

 

Who's in it?

The main cast members from the original film are all present incorrect, including Mia Wasikowska as Alice, Johnny Depp as the Hatter and Helena Bonham-Carter as the oddly-proportioned Red Queen, as well as Anne Hathaway returning in the role of her white counterpart. The biggest new addition to the cast is Sascha Baron-Cohen in the role of Time, but other new cast members include Rhys Ifans and Toby Jones.

 

When can I see it?

It''ll be arriving in UK cinemas on May 27th.

Kubo and the Two Strings

 

What is it?

Stop-motion animated fantasy adventure directed by Travis Knight, son of Nike founder Phil Knight.

 

Any plot details?

It's set in Japan and features a young boy called Kudo, the son of a legendary samurai who spends his days in his village caring for his mother, that is until a spirit from the past returnss to wreak havoc on their lives an Kubo must don his late father's magical suit of armour to do battle with gods and monsters alike.

 

Who's in it?

Matthew McConaughey, Rooney Mara, Charlize Theron, Ralph Fiennes and George Takei are among the cast, with the voice of protagonist Kubo being provided by Game of Thrones star Art Parkinson.

 

When can I see it?

It'll be arriving in UK cinemas on September 9th next year.

Zootopia

 

What is it?

Another animated adventure from Disney, this time revolving around a city populated entirely by mammals named Zootopia

 

Any plot details?

It goes something like this: a rabbit named Judy Hopps embarks on a new career in the police department and is charged with investigating the disappearance of an otter, but to solve the case she needs help and makes an unlikely partnership with a fox named Nick Wilde, who also happens to be a con artist who has been framed for a crime he didn't commit. The pair then find themselves stitched up in a conspiracy and must pool their talents to prove themselves innocent and catch the conspirers behind the plot.

 

Who's in it?

Ginnifer Goodwin provides the voice of Judy, while Jason Bateman does the same for Nick. Alongside them is a voice cast that includes Idriss Elba, J.K. Simmons and Shakira.

 

When can I see it?

It's going to be arriving in UK cinemas on March 25th.

The Secret Life of Pets

 

What is it?

Animated comedy examining what happens when the owners of pets living in a Manhattan apartment building while they're at work.

 

Any plot details?

The story centres around a menagerie of animals living in the same building in New York, whose blissful existence comes under threat when a villainous bunny rabbit named Snowball begins to amass an army of strays and abandoned pets, with the intention of mounting a revenge-fuelled attack on the animals lucky enough to be living the good life.

 

Who's in it?

The film's voice cast includes Kevin Hart, Ellie Kemper, Louis C.K., Dana Carvey, Lake Bell and Steve Coogan.

 

When can I see it?

It's due to arrive in UK cinemas on June 24th

Sing



What is it?

Animated musical comedy featuring a singing Koala named Buster.

 

Any plot details?

Just an outline at the moment, but basically Buster recruits a buddy to raise funds for his theatre. Beyond that the details are scarce, but Garth Jennings (Son of Rambow, The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy) is the man in the director's chair.

 

Who's in it?

So far the list of confirmed cast members is an impressive one that includes Scarlett Johansson, Taron Egerton, Seth MacFarlane, Reese Witherspoon, John C. Reilly, Peter Serafinowicz and Jennifer Saunders, with the voice of Buster being provided by Matthew McConaughey.

 

When can I see it?

This one's lined up for next Christmas, with a release date of December 22nd.

 

Can I see a trailer?

Not yet, might be a while until we see one given it's nearly a full year until the movie hits cinema screens.



The Angry Birds Movie

 

What is it?

Feature-length animation featuring the characters from the insanely popular mobile game. Yes, really.

 

Any plot details?

It goes like this: seven of the Angry Birds are living a blissful life until they get wind of the arrival of The Pigs, who have a nefarious plot in store for the birds, so they team up to investigate what their porky counterparts are up to.

 

Who's in it?

Josh Gad, Jason Sudeikis, Bill Hader, Peter Dinklage, Maya Rudolph and Danny McBride have all signed on the dotted line for this one.

 

When can I see it?

It's due out on May 13th, a full week before the Americans get a look at it.

Ice Age: Collision Course

 

What is it?

The fifth instalment in the Ice Age series and the sequel to Continental Drift.

 

Any plot details?

This time the action has moved to space, where Scrat's adventure threaten's to set of a chain of events that could mean disaster for Manny and the rest of the crew back on planet Earth. Scrat also finds an exotic place lead by a spiritual leader named Shangri-Llama.

 

Who's in it?

Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Dennis Leary, Nick Offerman, Chris Wedge, Simon Pegg and Jennifer Lopez are all among the star-studded cast

 

When can I see it?

Oddly enough for a film with 'Ice Age' in the title, it's due in UK cinemas at the height of summer, on July 29th to be exact.

Trolls

 

What is it?

3D-animated comedy from Dreamworks based on the famous toy dolls with the brightly-coloured hair

 

Any plot details?

Details are very sketchy at this stage, with only an outline suggesting an adventure or quest of some sort, but beyond that there's nothing concrete.

 

Who's in it?

Only two cast members have been confirmed so far, namely Pitch Perfect's Anna Kendrick and Justin Timberlake.

 

When can I see it?

It's currently pencilled in for release on October 21st, so we're a while away yet.

 

Can I see a trailer?

Not yet, it's still very early for this one.
