Deadpool - Five Reasons You’ll Love It

After smashing all expectations and grossing over $750 million at the box office, Deadpool finally arrives on DVD on Monday (June 13th). It follows Wade Wilson, former special forces operative who works as a mercenary in New York City and is happily enjoying life with girlfriend Vanessa. Then he finds out he’s been diagnosed with terminal cancer, he is introduced to a mysterious recruiter who offers him an experimental cure for his cancer.

When he arrives for treatment he meets Ajax, who injects him with a serum designed to awaken latent mutant genes and then subjects him to days of torture to induce stress and trigger the mutation. When it's finally triggered he gains a healing factor that cures his cancer but leaves him severely disfigured. After an explosive confrontation with Ajax, Wade sets out on a mission for revenge, a very violent one...

Ryan Reynolds stars as the aforementioned Wilson/Deadpool, with Morena Baccarin, Ed Skrein, T. J. Miller, Gina Carano and Brianna Hildebrand also in key roles.

We caught a screening of the movie back before it hit cinemas and have put together five reasons you’ll love it…

It’s very, very funny…

Unlike most recent superhero movies Deadpool takes nothing seriously, not a single thing, it’s glorious to watch.

And very, very violent…

The film’s 15 certification is generally justified, there are a lot of flying limbs, buckets of blood and some of the most creative deaths you’ll see in a long time.

The action sequences are spectacular…

As well as all the killer quips and blood-soaked violence, there are also some brilliant, almost balletic action sequences and one hell of a car crash. It’s a real thrill ride.

Ed Skrein is a marvellous villain…

Reynolds’ mile-a-minute Wilson meets a worthy adversary in Skrein’s Ajax, who is a brooding, menacing presence. He’s an excellent counterbalance to the zaniness of Deadpool.

We can’t wait to see what happens next…

Having smashed it at the box office a sequel is already in the works and it’s sure to be an absolute blast.
