X-Men: Apocalypse - Five Reasons You’ll Love It

Two years after they travelled back in time to save the future, the X-Men are faced with an older and much deadlier problem in new outing X-Men: Apocalypse.

The movie sees Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Evan Peters and Nicholas Hoult return to reprise their roles, with Oscar Isaac playing villain Apocalypse.

Among the new cast members are Game Of Thrones' Sophie Turner, who plays young Jean Grey, The Newsroom's Olivia Munn, who plays the dastardly Psylocke, Mud’s Tye Sheridan, who puts on the shades to become Cyclops, The Road's Kodi Smit-McPhee, who becomes Nightcrawler, Alexandra Shipp, who takes the role of Storm that once belonged to Halle Berry, and former Eastenders man Ben Hardy, who takes the wings of Angel.

The movie follows the return of Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant, who awakes after thousands of years and quickly becomes disillusioned with the world he finds. He recruits a team of powerful mutants and announces plans to cleanse humanity and create a new world order, a plan all the X-Men must band together to stop.

X-Men: Apocalypse will come out on DVD, Blu-Ray and hmv Exclusive Blu-Ray Steelbook on Monday (November 7th) and is available to pre-order on the right-hand side of the page, and we've rounded up five reasons you’ll love it…

Everything about it is enormous…

The cast is enormous, the special effects are stunning and the scale is beyond anything seen in the franchise before. You’ll be completely spellbound from beginning to end.

Particularly Oscar Isaac’s Apocalypse…

If you’re going to play a God, then you’ve got to be larger than life and that’s certainly what Isaac’s Apocalypse is. He’s loud, chewing all the scenery in sight and at one point, fighting three battles, all at the same time, it’s quite something.

The fights are brilliant...

The might of Apocalypse and his horsemen, which include a fired up Magneto, Olivia Munn’s athletic Psylocke, Hardy’s brutally powerful Angel and Shipp’s mysterious Storm, means there are some epic showdowns between them and the X-Men.

All the new kids make excellent debuts…

Whether it’s Xavier’s new recruits or the three new Horsemen, Singer has done an excellent job of casting a new generation of mutants, you’ll be very impressed with all of them.

It sets things up for a very exciting future…

There’s been talk of heading to space for the next adventure, picking things up in the 1990s and a whole host of other rumours, but wherever it goes, it’s going to be very, very exciting, a whole new cast are settled in and the next adventure will be all theirs.
