hmv staff pick their favourite DC Comics movies & TV shows

After years of anticipation and build up, Justice League has finally arrived in cinemas!

Although this is the first time all the members of the Justice League have appeared together in a live action movie, DC Comics have already released a whole host of movies & TV shows featuring these characters. Therefore, to celebrate the exciting release of Justice League we asked our staff to recommend some essential viewing that feature the Justice League or members of the iconic team.

This is what our staff recommend...

The LEGO Batman Movie

The LEGO Batman Movie

Chris McKay

"A fabulously funny movie following the adventures of Batman and his fight to finally defeat the Joker. I was at the edge of my seat watching this, and I would recommend it to anyone who is not just a LEGO fan, but also anyone who enjoys a good plot and storyline. A must have for an ultimate night in with the family!"

Wonder Woman (hmv Exclusive) Limited Edition Steelbook

Wonder Woman

Patty Jenkins

"It finally happened – DC produced not only a brilliant superhero movie, but one with a kickass woman playing the lead role. Everything about Wonder Woman is beautiful, from the plentiful slow-motion choreography to the historically accurate costumes designed with women in mind. Patty Jenkins didn’t just pull off what some thought was impossible, she also directed the most successful DC origin story AND most successful DCEU entry to date. But let’s not forget the incredible talents of Gal Gadot, who truly understands this iconic character and demonstrates so with such grace and fire. Wonder Woman is the DC movie we’ve been waiting for, and it leaves you with an appetite for more."

The Dark Knight Trilogy

The Dark Knight Trilogy

Christopher Nolan

"In 2005 filmmaker Christopher Nolan was given the task to crafting a new Batman movie, which turned into an epic Batman trilogy. Batman was re-invented on screen as a gritty, real world version of the character. Filled with thrilling action scenes, captivating stories and beautiful cinematography, The Dark Knight trilogy is a must watch as a primer for Batman."

Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox (hmv Exclusive)

Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox

Jay Oliva

"Definitely one of the best Flash stories to date. The Flashpoint Paradox flips everything we know upside down turning heroes into villains and more! Also features one of the best DC villains to date, The Reverse Flash. This is the story that will be featured in the future Flash movie starring Ezra Miller."

Man of Steel

Man Of Steel

Zack Snyder

"My favourite DC film is Man of Steel. This film shows Superman in a different light; within the modern age but with more of a background story. Also it's good to see superman as a child on the planet Krypton. I feel like this film is one of the best films DC have brought out."

Justice League: Crisis On Two Earths

Justice League: Crisis On Two Earths

Lauren Montgomery, Sam Liu

"The Justice League meet their evil counterparts from an alternate universe. An interesting look at how The League's powers could be used for evil and what might happen if these forces were to meet. Batman and Owlman steal the show."
