House Of Cards' James Foley set to direct Fifty Shades Darker
James Foley, best known for his work on House Of Cards and Glengarry Glen Ross, looks set to direct Fifty Shades Darker, the sequel to Fifty Shades Of Grey.
According to Deadline, Foley, who has also directed episodes of Twin Peaks and Hannibal, is the frontrunner to direct both Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed, the franchise's final instalment.
He is set to replace Sam Taylor-Wood, who clashed with author E.L James during the making of Fifty Shades Of Grey and confirmed earlier this year that she would not be returning to direct the sequel.
The script for Fifty Shades Darker has been written by Niall Leonard, husband of James, an experienced TV writer who has written episodes of Monarch of the Glen, Wire in the Blood and Wild at Heart among other things. He takes over writing duties from Kelly Marcel.
Fifty Shades Darker is due to hit cinemas in February of 2017, with Fifty Shades Freed following in February of 2018.
