James Gunn reveals Ronan The Accuser will not return for Guardians Of The Galaxy 2

Guardians Of The Galaxy director James Gunn has spoken about his plans for the film's sequel and revealed that Ronan The Accuser, the key villain from last summer's blockbuster, will not return for the sequel.

Speaking in a Facebook Q&A, Gunn did not rule out a return for Ronan, who was played by The Hobbit's Lee Pace, in the longer term, but did confirm he would not be in the sequel, writing when asked if Ronan would return: "Who knows. But not in 2, no."

Gunn had previously ruled out the chance of Nova, another of the Marvel comic heroes, making his debut in the sequel.

Guardians Of The Galaxy was a huge hit at the box office, taking just under $800 million dollars in receipts, and was released on DVD in late 2014. A sequel is due to be released in May 2017.
