James Wan signs on to direct The Conjuring 2
James Wan has agreed to return as director on the sequel to The Conjuring.
According to Deadline, Wan, who is currently completing post-production work on the seventh instalment of the Fast And The Furious, has signed a first-look deal with studio Warner Brothers, with the sequel to the suprise horror hit his first project.
Yesterday (October 21st), it was announced that the release of the sequel to The Conjuring has been severely delayed. Now, it seems, that was a move to make sure they could secure Wan's involvement.
The follow-up to the smash-hit horror film, which starred Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson, was due to be released on October 23rd in 2015, but has now been pushed back to an unspecified date in 2016.
The first instalment of The Conjuring proved a hit in 2013, taking $318 million worldwide against a budget of just $20 million.
Both Wilson and Farmiga are signed on to reprise their roles in the sequel.
