Jamie Oliver reveals he turned down a role in The Hobbit

Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver has revealed that he turned down the chance to be one of the hobbits in Peter Jackson's trilogy.

Oliver, who was speaking on the upcoming Channel 4 series Jamie and Jimmy's Friday Night Feast, revealed that Peter Jackson had offered him the role in exchange for providing the catering for his 50th birthday, but he was unable to do it due to work commitments.

He said: "The worst thing that happened to me was that I got phoned up by the exec producer and asked did I want to go and cook for Peter Jackson's birthday."

He continued: "And if I did, they would fly me over and I could be a hobbit in the film. But I was working, I couldn't get out of it. I really wanted to do it. I would have got right into it as well."

The final film in the Hobbit trilogy The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies is now in cinemas. Click here to read our full review.
