Jared Leto and Margot Robbie are to reprise their roles as The Joker and Harley Quinn for a new spin-off.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, directors and executive producers of the hit drama This Is Us and writers of beloved romantic comedy Crazy Stupid Love, are in final negotiations to write and direct the movie.
According to the magazine's source, the movie, which will go into production after the sequel to Suicide Squad, is "An insane and twisted love story. When Harry Met Sally on Benzedrine."
The news follows yesterday's announcement that The Joker is to get his own origin movie with Martin Scorsese on board to produce.
The Hangover's Todd Phillips will direct the movie and co-write it with 8 Mile scribe Scott Silver.
The new movie will not be connected to the wider DC Universe and will not feature Jared Leto in the role. According to the reports, a younger actor will be sort for this new film, which will be set in the early 1980's.
