Jared Leto to play Hugh Hefner in lavish new biopic
Suicide Squad star Jared Leto has signed up to play Playboy founder Hugh Hefner in a new biopic.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Leto will work with Rush Hour director Brett Ratner on the movie, which is in the early stages of pre-production.
Ratner said of the casting: "Jared is an old friend. When he heard I got the rights to Hef's story, he told me, 'I want to play him. I want to understand him.' And I really believe Jared can do it. He's one of the great actors of today."
The report goes on to say that Leto and Ratner attended a party at Hefner's Playboy Mansion back in April to begin research for the role, but Hefner was too ill to greet them.
The Playboy founder subsequently died at the end of September at the age of 91.
Leto will next be seen on screen in Blade Runner 2049, which arrives in cinemas this week.
