Jeff Daniels to star in Divergent finale Allegiant
Dumb & Dumber and The Newsroom star Jeff Daniels is in advanced talks to star in Allegiant, the two-part finale of the Divergent series.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Daniels is set to play the leader of the Bureau of Genetic Welfare in both Allegiant: Part One and Allegiant: Part Two. Shooting on both movies begin in a few weeks time.
Allegiant is the final book in Veronica Roth's Divergent trilogy and will be released in March 2016 and March 2017. Robert Schwentke, who directed the most recent instalment Insurgent, is signed up to direct Part One, with a director for the second part yet to be confirmed.
Insurgent and Divergent have both been big hits at the box office, grossing over $550 million between them.
Daniels has just completed work on Ridley Scott's new sci-fi epic The Martian and has also filmed a key role in the new biopic of Apple founder Steve Jobs.
