Legion showrunner Noah Hawley developing a new Doctor Doom movie

Noah Hawley, the man behind Fargo and the TV series based on the Marvel Comics character Legion, teased fans at Comic-Con yesterday with the tantalising suggestion that he's working on a new film based around Viktor von Doom and his villainous alter-ago, Doctor Doom.

At the end of a panel on the TV series at the comic book convention in San Diego yesterday, Hawley teased that his next project will involve the Fantastic Four's nemesis, telling the audience: “Two Words. Doctor. Doom.”

Fox has reportedly been looking for ways to revive the Fantastic Four franchise and it seems that Hawley has persuaded them that a film centred around Doctor Doom might be the best way to capture the public's imagination.

The news certainly generated a buzz at Comic-Con yesterday and Fox will be hoping to harness that excitement; previous attempts to bring the Fantastic Four to the big screen have had mixed results at the box office and with critics in the past.

However, Doctor Doom is one of the most well-known villains in the Marvel Universe and although Hawley didn't give anything else away about the project at this stage, this is definitely a story to keep an eye on over the next few weeks and months.

A new series of Legion has already been commissioned by Fox's TV network FX, although no air dates have yet been revealed.
