Matt Damon's Bourne 5 gets a release date

Bourne 5, which will feature Matt Damon returning to the role of Jason Bourne, now has a confirmed release date.

The blockbuster, which also sees director Paul Greengrass return to the director's chair, will be released on July 29th in 2016, a release date that has just been vacated by the planned sequel to Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes.

Damon had previously stated that he had no intention of of returning for a fourth time while Greengrass wasn’t involved and both had publicly said that they didn't believe there was anywhere left to take the character and they would not return unless a compelling story was brought forward.

As it turns out that story will actually be written by Damon and Greengrass themselves, in collaboration with Greengrass's regular editor Christopher Rouse.

The news of Damon and Greengrass's return has put on hold the planned sequel to spin-off The Bourne Legacy, which featured Jeremy Renner starring as Aaron Cross.
