New preview and new key casting for Twin Peaks unveiled

Peter Sarsgaard has joined the cast of the revival of Twin Peaks, according to reports overnight.

TV Line reports that Sarsgaard has signed up to join Amanda Seyfried in the new series which is currently being filmed in time for transmission next year. There is no word on what role either has been cast in.

As well as this a brand new preview of the show has been unveiled online and you can see it by scrolling down to the bottom of the page and clicking.

Twin Peaks originally ran in 1989 and lasted for 30 episodes over two series before it was cancelled by network ABC. The show followed the travails of FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper, who is sent to the fictional town of Twin Peaks, Washington to investigate the murder of high school student, Laura Palmer.

The show had a large cast, which included the likes of Lara Flynn Boyle, Michael Ontkean, Danna Ashbrook, Richard Beymer, Heather Graham, Ray Wise and Joan Chen.

The new series has been written entirely by co-creators David Lynch and Mark Frost with Lynch directing each of the episodes.

In the years since its cancellation the show has earned a huge cult following, with a number of special editions of the series released on DVD. The most recent Twin Peaks: The Entire Mystery, was released earlier this year.
