Their Finest by Lone Scherfig

Gemma Arterton, Bill Nighy, Sam Claflin, Jack Huston, Richard E. Grant and Helen McCrory are among the all-star cast gathered together for this period drama.

Lone Scherfig, who was behind the camera on An Education and The Riot Club, directs this movie, which is based on Lissa Evans’ novel of the same name.

Their Finest is set in the early 1940’s in the heart of World War Two. We follow a British film crew as they attempt to boost morale during World War II by making a propaganda film after the Blitzkrieg, a process that gets complicated when members of the crew get called up to fight.

The film is the story of Broadbent’s Tony Webster, a man in his later years who is forced to revisit his troubled past when a mysterious letter arrives in the post and he’s asked to contact people he hasn’t wanted to speak to in a long time.
