Night At The Museum: Secret Of The Tomb: What You Need To Know

The third and almost certainly final instalment of the Night At The Museum series is released on DVD and Blu-Ray on Monday (April 13th), here’s every damn thing you need to know about it…

What’s the plot?

This time around the film’s plot revolves around the Tablet of Ahkmenrah, the tablet that gives all the museum’s exhibits the ability to come to life, which sees its power begin to die out. In order to solve it, the gang head across the Atlantic to London. This means we get introduced to a whole new cast of characters, new exhibits and new peril…

Who’s in it?

Ben Stiller returns to star as Larry Daley, the night guard who discovered the exhibit’s night-time pursuits, with Ricky Gervais, Owen Wilson, Steve Coogan and Rami Malek all reprising their roles from the previous two movies.

There are a couple of new additions this time, firstly Pitch Perfect’s Rebel Wilson, who plays Tilly, a mouthy but hapless late night security guard, and The Guest/Downton Abbey star Dan Stevens who plays the gallant and deadly Sir Lancelot.

There’s also sadness in that both Robin Williams and Mickey Rooney passed away in the months after filming was completed. The film is touchingly dedicated to the pair.

Does it deliver?

If you’ve seen any of the other movies in the franchise, then you’ll know what to expect. Plenty of slapstick set pieces, a few choice one-liners and lots of heart-warming camaraderie.

It’s a good watch for the whole family, with some welcome new energy provided by Dan Stevens. You can check out our full review here.
