Resident Evil set for reboot

Resident Evil is set for a reboot.

It had been thought that Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, which was released earlier this year, was the last from the franchise, especially after Paul W. S.Anderson, who produced each movie in the franchise and directed four of them, was widely quoted as saying that it would the last outing.

But now, according to Variety, Martin Moszkowicz, chairman of the board at Constantin Film, has confirmed that a reboot is in the works.

No actors or directors are in line for the movie at this point.

The series, which is based on the hugely successful computer game, starred Milla Jovovich as Alice, a highly trained soldier who is forced to work alongside a band of mercenaries from the suspicious Umbrella Corporation as they attempt to contain the outbreak of the T-virus at a secret underground facility.

So far the franchise, which began in 2002, has yielded six movies which have grossed over £$1.23 billion at the box office between them.
