Sherlock special 'The Abominable Bride' to air on New Year's Day
Steven Moffat has been teasing Sherlock fans in recent weeks with two short teasers emerging featuring clips of the planned Christmas special, but this weekend the BBC released the full trailer and announced that the new episode, 'The Abominable Bride', will air on January 1st 2016.
As anyone who has been following the recent developments will already know, the episode will be a one-off, standalone affair set in Victorian London. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly earlier this year, Moffat said about the new episode: “The special is its own thing. We wouldn’t have done the story we’re doing, and the way we’re doing it, if we didn’t have this special. It’s not part of the run of three episodes. So we had this to do it – as we could hardly conceal – it’s Victorian. Mark Gatiss and me, we wanted to do this, but it had to be a special, it had to be separate entity on its own. It’s kind of in its own little bubble."
'The Abominable Bride' will feature Baker Street's famous detective and a moustache-sporting Dr. Watson attempting to solve what appears to be an impossible case. Check out the new trailer below!
