Steve Carrell in talks to star in Minecraft movie
Steve Carrell is in talks to star in the big-screen adaptation of the hugely successful computer game Minecraft.
Minecraft is a sandbox indie game that was originally created by Swedish programmer Markus 'Notch' Persson. It is an open world game where players must mine various kinds of minerals out of the ground and then build things using those minerals, as well as protecting themselves for a slew of monsters, who come out during nightfall.
According to Variety, Carrell is in talks to lead the movie in an unspecified role. It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia star Robert McElhenney is booked to direct the film, having replaced Shawn Levy who left to focus on the Uncharted movie. Wonder Woman writer Jason Fuchs has provided the script with a current release date pencilled in for May 25th in 2019.
Carrell will next be seen in Battle Of The Sexes where he stars alongside Emma Stone. The movie tells the story of the 1973 tennis match between World number one Billie Jean King and ex-champ and serial hustler Bobby Riggs
