Swiss Army Man - What You Need To Know
Daniel Radcliffe and Paul Dano star in madcap comedy Swiss Army Man, which is now out on DVD and Blu-Ray, here’s everything you need to know about it…
Who’s in it?
Radcliffe and Dano lead the way with Scott Pilgrim Vs The World and 10 Cloverfield Lane star Mary Elizabeth Winstead also in a key role.
And who’s behind the camera?
Daniel Scheinert and Daniel Kwan, who have directed a number of acclaimed short films, write and direct this one. It’s their feature film debut.
What’s the plot?
Dano plays Hank, a man who has been marooned on a desert island for quite some time. He’s on the verge of hanging himself, rope ready, head inside it, all ready to end it all, when he spots a body washed up on the beach.
After recovering the dead man, who he names Manny (Radcliffe), Hank befriends him and decides that this corpse is the key to him finding his way home. As the film progresses, Hank teaches Manny more and more about life and the way of the world as they plan their escape. Trouble is, he is still a corpse...
Does it deliver?
There are no two ways about it, this is a very strange film, with a lot of farting, and, at one point, one character’s erect penis being used as a compass to guide the pair home, so don’t sit down to watch it expecting a fresh take on Castaway.
This is a weird, but strangely heartwarming story so prepared to be bemused and amused in equal measure.
