The Amazing Spider-Man 2: What You Need To Know

Andrew Garfield returns for his second turn as the man in the mask in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which is released on DVD and Blu-Ray on Monday (September 1st). Here’s everything you need to know about the blockbuster…

What’s the plot?

We’re back in New York and Spider-Man’s life is still troubled, but improving. The hero known to his friends as Peter Parker is finally enjoying being in the suit and helping the citizens of the Big Apple in any way he can. He’s even approaching normality in his relationship with Gwen Stacy, but that’s all about to change, as a number of villains, each deadlier than the last, are thrown into the picture…

Who’s in it?

Garfield dons the spider-suit once again, with Emma Stone also returning as Gwen Stacy and Sally Field as Peter’s Aunt May. They’re joined by an array of villains, first up is Jamie Foxx, who begins the film as bumbling engineer Max Dillon, but, after a freak accident becomes Electro, a man with the ability to control and manipulate vast amounts of electricity. Next up is Paul Giamatti, who tanks up as Rhino, a Russian mobster encased in a massive armoured suit, and finally Harry Osborn, played by Dane DeHaan, who’s well on his way to becoming Spidey’s arch nemesis The Green Goblin.

Does it deliver?

While it does probably have one villain too many, that’s the only criticism in a sea full of positivity. Garfield continues to excel, he and Stone’s chemistry is incredible and the effects are stunning. Well worth investing in. Don't believe us?
