The Hunger Games: Catching Fire – What You Need To Know

The second chapter in the story of this seemingly unstoppable action adventure franchise arrives today (March 17th) on DVD and Blu-Ray, here's everything you need to know about events in the Capitol…

What’s the plot?

After returning home victorious from The Hunger Games, Katniss and Peter are preparing to head off on their victory tour around each of the 13 districts. Before they head off on their lap and with reports of a planned uprising swirling, President Snow calls Katniss into his office and tells her that she must dampen these flames, or lose her entire family.

Needless to say, this tour does not go to plan and the President, along with new advisor Plutarch Heavensbee, hatches a plan to be rid of her once and for all. To do this, they stage a second Hunger Games featuring all the past winners from each district, and off we go again…

Who’s in it?

Jennifer Lawrence returns as Katniss, with Josh Hutcherson back as Peeta, Liam Hemsworth returning as Gale, Elizabeth Banks once again donning an insane amount of make up to portray organiser Effie, Woody Harrelson is also back as the drunken, but good-hearted Hamich. Donald Sutherland resumes his role as the ruthless dictator President Snow and Stanley Tucci is once again in post as flamboyant host Caesar Flickerman.

Newly on board are Philip Seymour Hoffman (R.I.P) as advisor to Snow, with Jenna Malone, Jeffrey Wright and Sam Claflin also joining to play former Hunger Games' winners who are forced back into the arena.

Does it deliver?

Absolutely and completely, this is a compelling, thrilling watch and shows that this series is going from strength to strength.
