The Maze Runner's Will Poulter to play Pennywise in new adaptation of Stephen King's It
We're The Millers and Son Of Rambo star Will Poulter has signed up to star as Pennywise the clown in a new adaptation of Stephen King's classic horror story It.
The new adaptation will be directed by True Detective's Cary Fukunaga and is currently in pre-production, with filming taking place in the summer. The movie will shoot in New York.
King's 1986 novel was originally adapted into a two-part television film in 1990, starring Tim Curry in the iconic titular role. It centred around a group of children who must face off against a force that takes on its victims' greatest fears, horrifically personified by Pennywise the Clown.
According to Variety, Poulter, who recently starred in The Maze Runner and will next be seen alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in The Revenant, beat off competition from Mark Rylance and Ben Mendelsohn to win the role of Pennywise. The film is set to be released in two parts.
