The Twilight Saga to return for five short films
The Twilight Saga, the stupendously successful series of films, is to be resurrected for five further short films.
Producers Lionsgate have announced that they will release five short films that will be premiered on Facebook, with five female directors to be selected to make their own short film based on the franchise for The Storytellers - New Creative Voices of The Twilight Saga series.
Five directors will be chosen next year and will be mentored by a panel of experts, including Twilight star Kristen Stewart, author Stephenie Meyer, Kate Winslet; Octavia Spencer; Julie Bowen; Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke; producer Cathy Schulman; and Frozen co-director Jennifer Lee. Fans will then be asked to vote for an overall winner.
Speaking about the competition, Meyer said: "The female voice is something that has become more and more important to me as I've worked in the film industry. I'm honoured to be working with Women In Film, Lionsgate, and Facebook on a project dedicated to giving more women a chance to be heard creatively."
The Twilight Saga grossed a combined total of over $3.3 billion dollars during its five-film run.
