This Week's New DVDs: April 3rd 2017

Moana, Allied, Snowden and Tomboy are among this week's new releases on DVD.

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson lends his voices to Disney’s new animated adventure which follows Moana Waialiki, a Polynesian sea-voyager, navigator and chief's daughter, who is forced to embark on a journey across the sea to find a fabled island.

To help her on her way she teams up with Maui, a demi-god, who helps her battle a series of deadly challenges, including enormous sea monsters, on her long journey.

Johnson voices Maui, with newcomer Auli'i Cravalho as Moana. John Musker and Ron Clements, who have directed the likes of Aladdin, The Princess And The Frog and The Little Mermaid.

Taika Waititi, director of What We Do In The Shadows and currently in pre-production on Thor: Ragnarok, wrote the script, while Lin-Manuel Miranda, creator of Hamilton and future star of Mary Poppins, has contributed tracks to the soundtrack.

Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard star in this slick new thriller from director Robert Zemeckis. Pitt plays North American intelligence officer Max Vatan who meets French Resistance fighter Marianne Beausejour (Cotillard) while both are working as assassins in 1942.

After falling in love and setting up home in London, Vatan’s life is turned upside down when he’s asked to try and find out if his wife has in fact been spying for the Germans all along...

Oliver Stone directs Joseph Gordon-Levitt in this gritty biopic of Edward Snowden, a former soldier who became an intelligence officer with the National Security Agency and made the decision to leak thousands of classified documents to The Guardian in June 2013.

Starring alongside Gordon-Levitt are Shailene Woodley, Nicholas Cage, Zachary Quinto, Timothy Olyphant and Rhys Ifans.
