This Week's New DVDs: July 31st 2017

Power Rangers, The Boss Baby, Big Little Lies and Life are among this week's new releases on DVD.

The beloved children’s action series gets a 2017 reboot with a brand new cast and sizeable budget.

The film will star Becky G as Yellow Ranger Trini, Ludi Lin as Black Ranger Zack, Dacre Montgomery as Red Ranger Jason, Naomi Scott as Pink Ranger Kimberly, and RJ Cyler as Blue Ranger Billy, with Elizabeth Banks playing villain Rita Repulsa and Bryan Cranston as the team’s mentor Zordon.

The movie follows five troubled teenage student outcasts named Zack, Kimberly, Billy, Trini, and Jason, who are chosen by mentor Zordon to become the Power Rangers after learning that their small town of Angel Grove and the world are threatened by an alien force led by Rita Repulsa.

We follow the six-member crew of the International Space Station who are tasked with finding and returning with the first proof of intelligent life outside of life. Sadly when they discover it the lifeform turns out to be a lot more than they bargained for...

Daniel Espinosa, who made Child 44, directs. He works from a script from Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the same duo who wrote Deadpool.

This hit animation about a sharp suited baby arrives on DVD shelves this week. 

Alec Baldwin, Steve Buscemi, Jimmy Kimmel and Lisa Kudrow provide voices for the key characters while the movie is narrated by Tobey Maguire. 

This story follows Tim Templeton who reminiscences about life as a seven-year-old life being jealous of his fast-talking, briefcase-carrying baby brother named the Baby Boss, a time that somehow saw the two of them get caught in a plot that could change the world forever...

HBO unites an all-star cast for this big-budget of David E. Kelley’s thrilling novel.

Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Shailene Woodley, Alexander Skarsgård, Laura Dern, Adam Scott and Zoë Kravitz all come together for this seven-episode run, which has been overseen by Jean-Marc Vallée, director of Wild and Dallas Buyers' Club.

Set in the small town of Pirriwee, we follow the lives of three mothers whose children are all in first grade at the local elementary school whose lives become bound together when a murder happens in the town.

Anna Kendrick, Craig Robinson, Stephen Merchant, Lisa Kudrow and Silicon Valley's Amanda Crew all star in this downbeat comedy.

The movie stars Kendrick as Eloise, a young woman who has recently been relieved of her duties as maid of honour after being unceremoniously dumped by the best man via text.

Despite this, she decides to attend the wedding anyway only to find herself seated with five random guests at the dreaded Table 19, the furthest from the action, but a table resolved to have a good time at the wedding none the less.

The movie has been directed by Jeffrey Blitz, best known for directing 11 episodes of the US version of The Office and indie teen film Rocket Science.

Whittle plays Shadow Moon, an ex-con who is offered a job as a bodyguard by mysterious stranger Mr. Wednesday.  However, it soon emerges that Mr. Wednesday is, in fact, an ancient deity travelling across the country rounding up all the old gods in anticipation of an epic battle against a new and powerful force intent on taking control of their world.

CHiPs, the big-screen reboot of the much-loved 1970's police comedy, comes to DVD this week. 

The movie stars Dax Shepard, Michael Peña, Vincent D'Onofrio, Wilmer Valderrama, Adam Brody, Rosa Salazar, Vida Guerra, Kristen Bell and Maya Rudolph, with Shepard also writing and directing the movie. 

CHiPs follows Shepard's Jon Baker and Peña's Frank “Ponch” Poncherello who have just joined the California Highway Patrol (CHP) in Los Angeles but for very different reasons. Baker is a beaten up pro motorbiker trying to put his life and marriage back together. Poncherello is a cocky undercover Federal agent investigating a multi-million dollar heist that may be an inside job.
