Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, Lady Bird are big winners at 2018 Golden Globes

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri and Lady Bird were the big winners at last night's (January 7th) Golden Globes. 

The hard-hitting drama, which stars Frances McDormand as a grieving mother who personally challenges the local authorities to solve her daughter's murder when they fail to catch the culprit, won four awards, including Best Picture - Drama. 

McDormand won Best Actress with Sam Rockwell winning Best Supporting Actor and writer/director Martin McDonagh taking home best screenplay. 

Greta Grewig's coming of age drama Lady Bird won two awards. Star Saoirse Ronan won Best Actress for a comedy or musical and the film itself won the overall award for best comedy or musical. 

Other winners on the night including James Franco for his turn in The Disaster Artist, he won Best Actor for a comedy or musical, while Gary Oldman won in the drama category for his performance as Winston Churchill in Darkest Hour.

Alison Janney won Best Supporting Actress for I, Tonya and Guillermo Del Toro picked up the directorial honour for The Shape Of Water. 

The awards, which were celebrating their 75th anniversary this year, were hosted by comedian Seth Meyers.
