Watch the stirring first trailer for Morrissey biopic England Is Mine

The first trailer for England Is Mine, the new biopic about the early life of Morrissey, has been unveiled. Click below to watch it.

War and Peace’s Jack Lowden takes on the role of Morrissey, the eccentric frontman of The Smiths, starring alongside Downton Abbey’s Jessica Brown-Findley, Thirteen/Doctor Foster’s Jodie Comer and No Offence’s Peter McDonald.

The movie follows Steven Patrick Morrissey as his dreams of a successful music career are dampened by his run-of-the-mill job at the local tax office.

Eventually, he finds solace in the city’s underground gig scene where he meets Linder Sterling, an intelligent, self-assured artist, who encourages him to make his ideas of superstardom a reality.

Debut director Mark Gill is behind the camera on this movie, which will hit UK cinemas on August 4th this summer.
