This Month's Vinyl Picks: November 2020
A new album from Australia's Princess of Pop, live albums from Bob Marley and Black Sabbath, and an updated James Bond box set are amongst November's best vinyl releases...
Kylie Minogue - Disco
BMG Rights Management
Rumour has it that when a young Australian soap actress named Kylie Minogue first showed up at the studios of pop producers Stock, Aitken and Waterman to work on her debut single, the 1980s 'Hit Factory' trio had either been so busy or so underwhelmed by her arrival that they forgot she was coming, reportedly thrashing out her breakthrough hit 'I Should Be So Lucky' in less than 20 minutes while the singer waited in reception.
Apocryphal or not, some three decades later Kylie Minogue is Australia's biggest-selling female artist of all time and is set to make the next instalment in an extraordinarily enduring career this month. Disco is her 15th studio album and arrives in stores on November 6th boasting 12 new tracks, including new singles 'Magic' and 'I Love It', with two vinyl flavours available – a standard black wax LP or a limited edition version on transparent blue vinyl.
Paloma Faith – Infinite Things (Limited Edition White Vinyl)
RCA
After a couple of near-misses that saw pop outsider Paloma Faith's second and third albums both peak at No. 2 on the UK Album Chart, her fourth time out proved to be the charm as 2017's The Architect scored the singer her first Number One and this week Faith returns hoping to repeat that feat with its follow-up, Infinite Things.
Her fifth album in total, Infinite Things includes latest single 'Better Than This' on its13-song tracklist and features production contributions from Tre Jean-Marie, Steve Mac and Jordan Riley, among several others. Set to arrive in stores on November 13th, the new album is available as both a standard black LP and a limited edition version pressed onto white vinyl.
Little Mix – Confetti (Limited Edition Splatter Vinyl)
RCA
Completing a hat-trick of female pop-purveyors leading this month's vinyl round-up, Little Mix return with their sixth studio album and their first for RCA after parting ways with with Simon Cowell's recently-deceased record label Syco Music.
Featuring new singles 'Break Up Song', Holidays' and 'Sweet Melody' as well as production from the likes of Kamille, MNEK and Tayla Parx, Confetti makes its arrival in stores on November 6th and is available as both a standard black LP or a limited edition version pressed onto stunning splatter vinyl.
Coldplay – Parachutes: 20th Anniversary
Parlophone
Want to feel old? It may feel as though Chris Martin and co. have been around for so long as to be considered part of the furniture, but it'll still come as a shock to many to learn that their debut album celebrates its 20th birthday this month.
To mark its two-decade milestone the album gets the reissue treatment this month with a new 20th Anniversary Edition pressed onto transparent 'Yellow' vinyl (what else?) on November 20th.
The Weeknd – Beauty Behind the Madness: 5th Anniversary
XO / Island Records
Another of the 'anniversary editions' coming to stores in November – although not quite as old as Coldplay's – this month marks five years since the release of The Weeknd's sophomore album Beauty Behind the Madness and to celebrate the occasion his label XO are set to release a limited edition reissue of the album, with a new repress on eye-catching black and yellow splatter vinyl due to make its way into our stores on November 13th.
Black Sabbath - The End: Birmingham 4 February 2017
Eagle Rock
Inventors of heavy metal, creators of doom-laden riffs, eaters of live winged creatures: Black Sabbath finally brought down the curtain on a legendary career in typically ear-splitting fashion in 2017 with a farewell tour dubbed The End, whose grand finale was staged in the city that gave birth to the band and their heavy, industrial sound.
The End: Birmingham 4 February captured their final show in all its glory and November offers a chance to get hold of their final live album on vinyl once again, with new limited edition reissue on blue vinyl set to land on the shelves in our stores on November 20th.
Bob Marley – Uprising Live! (Limited Edition Orange Vinyl)
Eagle Records
November is set to be quite a month for Bob Marley fans wanting to add some more of the great man to their vinyl collections, with not only a reissue of his much-loved Greatest Hits collection Legend getting a new repress this month but also a newly-reissued live album heading to stores imminently.
Recorded on his final tour before his tragic death a year later in 1981, Uprising Live! captures the entirety of a now-legendary live show at the Westfalenhalle in Dortmund, Germany, and a new reissue of the resulting live album spreads a setlist of 23 tracks, including hits such as 'Exodus', Redemption Song' and 'No Woman, No Cry', over a new 2LP set that's due to land in stores on November 13th.
Various Artists - The Best of Bond... James Bond
UMC
We may still have a while to wait until we finally get a look at the 25th Bond film with No Time To Die having been pushed back to next year, but not only does November offer a chance to get your hands on the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra's renditions of all 25 Bond themes to date, there's also a stunning new vinyl box set featuring some of the highlights of the spy franchise's many iconic soundtracks.
Set to arrive in stores on November 20th, a new edition of The Best of Bond.... James Bond has been update to include new additions from Adele's 'Skyfall' to Billie Eilish's newly-penned theme for No Time To Die, which join a long list of classics that also includes the likes of Paul McCartney's 'Live and Let Die', a-ha's 'The Living Daylights' and Duran Duran's 'A View To A Kill', among many, many others.
