Cheryl Fernandez-Versini quits The X-Factor judging panel
Cheryl Fernandez-Versini has revealed that she has quit The X-Factor and will not return to the judging panel.
The singer, who returned to the show's judging panel in 2014 after first departing in 2010, has now revealed that she will not be back for the new series as she wants to focus on her pop career.
She said in a statement: "I have had such an amazing experience being a judge on The X Factor. "I have learnt so much and enjoyed nurturing talent but I've missed making music and am excited to be recording again.
She continued: "I want to thank everybody I have worked with along the way, especially Simon [Cowell] who I love to bits. I hope the show continues to produce stars and I wish them all the best."
Simon Cowell added: "Cheryl and myself spoke about this. I totally understand her commitment to making more records. She has been amazing on the show and in the near future we will be working on other things together."
Fernandez-Versini's departure follows the exit of fellow judge Nick Grimshaw and hosts Caroline Flack and Olly Murs. Former host Dermot O'Leary has been confirmed to return for the show's new series, while Rita Ora has yet to confirm whether she will be back for the new run.
