Finnish rockers HIM announce they are to split up

HIM have announced that they are to split up.

The Finnish band released eight studio albums across a career that spanned more than 25 years but have now revealed that they will split after undertaking a farewell tour later this year.

Speaking about the split, bassist Mige Paananen said: "At the end of 2017 we will be released into the wild. Before this event of great transformation, we would love to offer you one last chance to experience our live performances in His Majesty's service. It shall not be a weepfest but a celebration of love metal in all its Lovecraftian glory! See you there!"

The band, who are fronted by Ville Valo, sold six million albums across their career and had a string of hit singles.
