Hear Coldplay's Chris Martin and Cat Power duet on 'Wish I Was Here'
Coldplay frontman Chris Martin and Cat Power have teamed up for a duet titled 'Wish I Was Here', which you can hear below.
The track is taken from the soundtrack to Wish I Was Here, the new film from Scrubs star Zach Braff, which is due for release in September in the UK.
Recorded at Electric Lady Studios in New York, Braff told NPR that the track came together after he approached the Coldplay man to do a track for the soundtrack.
He said: "Chris had the idea that it would be sung by a woman. I thought that was a genius idea, because one of the things the film is about is a strong woman (Kate Hudson’s character) becoming the matriarch of her family. When Chris and I were talking, we both kind of simultaneously said, ’Cat Power.’"
He continued: "I reached out to Chan Marshall (aka Cat Power) and she and I met and really clicked. I set her up to watch the film in her apartment. The whole time she was watching she kept texting me all the different parts she was loving. She said yes the instant it was over.”
Coldplay played their only scheduled UK shows of the year last week at London's Royal Albert Hall, you can read our review here. They released their sixth album Ghost Stories (which you can preview on the right of the page) earlier this year.
