Every day during January we’re going to be previewing the albums that are going to be hitting the shelves in 2015. Most will definitely come out, some probably will, and some we really hope finally see the light of day (we’re looking at you Adele…). Today it's Oxford's finest fivesome, Foals...

A little background…

2013’s Holy Fire cemented Oxford fivesome Foals’ reputation as one of the UK’s finest bands. Three albums in and they’ve yet to put a foot wrong, each record has challenged and evolved, bringing in new influences, moving from the nuanced afrobeat that was all over their debut album Antidotes, to the sharp, post-punk of Antidotes and the huge soundscapes that they tackled on Holy Fire.

Always though, they’ve made sure to include a couple of absolute bangers on each album and they excelled themselves last time with ‘Inhaler’ and ‘My Number’.

Commercially the album was a success too, going Gold and seeing the band’s live prowess grow. They sold out multiple nights at Alexandra Palace and headlined their first major festivals, making album number four a chance to graduate into arenas and headlining the country’s biggest stages, both indoors and outdoors.

The band don’t work quickly, but they have confirmed that they are back at work. During interviews in April and May on their last round of touring they confirmed they were back at the work on a new album and tweeted that their time in the studio had begun at the beginning of October.

What It's Called?

No idea yet. Foals have used a grand total of six words to name their three albums so far, so it’ll probably be a short one.

What Will It Sound Like?

Each of Foals’ albums has progressed, gradually getting bigger and bigger in terms of production, ambition and chorus sizes. Let’s hope that continues.

Who's Producing It? Are There Any Big-Name Guests?

There’s no word about either of these yet. They’ve yet to use the same producer twice though and they’ve yet to let any guests on their albums, not high-profile types anyway.

Will It Really Come Out This Year? And When?

The band finished touring last summer and were already back in the studio in early 2014. We’d bet this will drop at some point during 2015.
