Tom Misch lit things up in London last weekend and we were there to take it all in...

22-year-old South London singer-songwriter Tom Misch headlines with sister Laura supporting.

Printworks London, just off Canada Water and the UK Capital's newest venues. It once housed the great printing press that supplied London with the Metro and Evening Standard newspapers, now it plays host to very sweaty gigs!

Was it full? And how were the crowd?

It was absolutely rammed! You could tell the crowd were in full Friday night out mode!

So what was the set like? What did he play?

He's not been around long, but Misch already has a selection of EPs under his belt and got through a lot of his material, right through the earliest mixtape cuts to his latest single ‘South Of The River; which resonated quite well with the location.

The mixed instrumentals sounded amazing and had everyone swaying and bopping along, feeling good on a seriously funky Friday night.

Considering Printworks is a big space and he had lots of people in front of him, Misch was surprisingly relaxed, moving from one smooth tune to the next with ease. It was a sparky crowd and background chatter got the better of a few of the songs, but when he needed to, Misch pulled them all in.

Any good between song banter?

He’s not really a talker is young Tom, he just wanted to crack on with the music.

Did he put on much of a show?

The venue itself is insane so being surrounded by all the rising metal in the high ceilinged industrial space, but the accompanying sweeping lights and smoke made for quite an atmospheric evening.

What was the highlight of the set?

With jazz music, everyone loves a bit of the ol' saxophone so it was a real highlight when Tom had his sister Laura join him for their track 'Follow'.

Where can I catch him next?

Misch has finished his UK gigs for the moment and is heading across to Germany, France and The Netherlands for a couple festivals at the beginning of next month. But watch out for him, he’s not going anywhere!
