hmv.com reviews... Tweens @ London's Old Blue Last
Tweens, scrappy Cincinnati punk trio, blasted into town last night (September 9th) to play London's hopelessly hip Old Blue Last. Here is our review…
Tweens. Punk rock threesome who hail from Cincinnati, Ohio, currently touring their self-titled debut album, which you can preview on the right of the page.
The Old Blue Last, right in the heart of Shoreditch.
Was it full? And how were the crowd?
It was a free show, but there wasn't exactly a lot of promotion. With that in mind the turnout of just shy of 100 is pretty damn respectable.
So what was the set like? What did they play?
They burned their way through the majority of their self-titled debut album, including a ferocious 'Bored In The City', the Sonic Youth esque 'Stoner' and the brilliant closing 'Be Mean'. It was quick-fire, intense, but brilliant to watch, you couldn't take your eyes off the stage.
Any good between song banter?
Not loads, a few thank yous and some nice to be heres.
Did they put on much of a show?
The whole show was a furious blast of noise, energy and whirling arms, nothing else was required.
What was the highlight of the set?
The whole thing was a blast, but the closing 'Be Mean' was absolutely flattening.
Where can I catch them next?
They're playing Madam Jojo's tonight (September 9th), if you're in London, or you can get there, get yourself down.
