hmv.com reviews… Twin Atlantic @ London's Boston Arms
After an exhausting tour in support of their phenomenal second record Free, Scottish foursome Twin Atlantic have been locked away for most of the last year working on the follow-up, which now finally has a summer release date.
They previewed a few tracks from Great Divide last night in a pub back room in North London and we were there to review things…
Twin Atlantic, Scottish rockers, currently preparing for the release of their third studio album Great Divide.
Boston Arms, a pub back room, a very large pub room mind, in North London.
Any good supports?
Eliza And The Bear, Essex purveyors of massive choruses and huge melodies, they were superb, as they always are.
Was it full? And how were the crowd?
It sold out in a matter of minutes and was packed out, right to the back of the room. The crowd were ready to fall in love with the band before they'd even played a note of music and were not disappointed by the set, which slayed.
So what was the set like? What did they play?
The band rocketed through their set, it lasted for just over an hour and kicked off with a driving 'Yes I Was Drunk'. The show saw them air most of second album Free and also barrel through a number of cuts from Great Divide, including 'Heart And Soul', 'Actions That Echo' and 'I Am An Animal' and finished up with a colossal rendition of 'Make A Beast Of Myself'.
Any good between song banter?
Nothing surprising, a few new song introductions and lots of thank yous, the band look very nervous to start off with, but , from the second song onwards, played with big beaming smiles on their faces, which was lovely.
Did they put on much of a show?
They hung some nice bespoke Twin Atlantic flags and packed in an almighty light show, it was very impressive.
What was the highlight of the set?
New single 'Heart And Soul' sounded absolutely ginormous, full of power and drive, it stood out above the rest.
Where can I catch them next?
They've got a fair few festivals booked, including T In The Park and Reading/Leeds, you can find all their summer plans here.
Twin Atlantic's new album Great Divide is set for release on August 18 and can be pre-ordered in hmv stores now.
