"My message is not just personal to me, everybody goes though the same things..." hmv.com talks to Gregory Porter
Gregory Porter has been steadiy carving a respectable niche for himself as a velvet-voiced jazz singer with a socially aware, sometimes political lyrical stance, penning soul-drenched protest songs like '1960 What?', but then a collaboration with Disclosure on the electronic duo's second album Caracal put him in front of a mainstream audience, helping to turn his third album Liquid Spirit into a slow-burning hit.
Today he's back with its follow-up, Take Me to the Alley, which includes a mellow jazz rendition of the Disclosure track 'Holding On' and his brilliant new single 'Don't Lose Your Steam', so we grabbed him for a chat about working on his new album, its themes of love and respect, and the Disclosure connection...
