hmv's Next Big Thing... #112 PWR BTTM

Every Wednesday we recommend a brand new artist who we think you're going to love. This week we bring you PWR BTTM, a wonderfully eccentric punk duo...

Who Are They?

PWR BTTM, which is pronounced 'Power Bottom', are Liv Bruce and Ben Hopkins, a duo from Annandale-on-Hudson, a tiny village in New York state. Formed in college, the pair rose to prominence with a series of powerhouse early singles and a raw, scratchy and riotous debut LP named Ugly Cherries. Now they're readying a second record...

Who Do They Sound Like?

Imagine The Gaslight Anthem and Jimmy Eat World's more rugged moments given a theatrical spin and you've got the picture.

Why Should I Be Excited?

They've got a very wacky and unique take on a rather weathered genre, that's pretty exciting. That and the melodies, they're very, very catchy.

Can I Hear Something?

You most definitely can. Their new single 'Big Beautiful Day' is below for you and it's taken from their new album Pageant, which will be with us in May and is available to pre-order now on the right-hand side of the page.
