hmv's Next Big Thing... #159 Swimming Girls

Every Wednesday we recommend a brand new artist who we think you're going to love. This week we bring you dream poppers Swimming Girls...

Who Are They?

Swimming Girls are a foursome, who came together at university in Bath and consist of singer Vanessa Giménez, guitarist Jay Oz Bell, synth player Roo Primrose and drummer Max Blunos.

So far, they have dropped a series of superb singles and some big support slots with The View.

As well as this, they've already got a couple of claims to fame, singer Vanessa successfully scored herself in One Direction's Louis Tomlinson's new girl band, but spurned it for life in Swimming Girls, while the band's guitarist Jay designed the music-quiz app Face The Music...

What Do They Sound Like?

Imagine the haunting chords of Angelo Badalamenti's Twin Peaks score with searing grungey guitars and Haim esque harmonies over the top. That's Swimming Girls.

Why Should I Be Excited?

Luscious grooves and ever-so-hummable choruses, they're a dream pop delight.

Can I Hear Something?

Absolutely. Their new single 'Back Of Your Car' is below for your listening pleasure.
