hmv's Next Big Thing... #16 Bob Moses

Every Wednesday we recommend a brand new artist who we think you're going to love. This week we're bigging up Brooklyn-based deep house duo Bob Moses...

Who Are They?

Not to be confused with the American jazz drummer of the same name, Bob Moses are the Vancouver-born duo of Tom Howie and Jimmy Valance. Now based in Brooklyn, New York, the pair have been steadily making a name for themselves on the club scene since the release of their first EP Hands to Hold on the Scissor & Thread imprint in 2012.

Who Do They Sound Like?

If you imagine a middle ground somewhere between the hypnotic trance rhythms of Daniel Avery and the languid, shimmering grooves of Jungle, you're in the ballpark. This isn't all instrumental stuff though, there are vocals in there too, but this is the kind of stuff you can get totally lost in on the dancefloor.

Why Should I Be Excited?

Now signed to Domino in the UK, this week saw them release All in All, a compilation of all their previous singles and EPs from the last couple of years, which serves a the perfect introduction to their work for the uninitiated.

Can I Hear Something?

Sure, you can find their track 'Grace' below and you can also find two of their early EPs – Hands to Hold and Far From The Tree - in our download store.
