hmv's Next Big Thing... #169 The Ninth Wave
Every Wednesday we recommend a brand new artist who we think you're going to love. This week we bring you brooding Scottish types The Ninth Wave...
Who Are They?
The Ninth Wave hail from Glasgow and consist of co-vocalists/guitarists Millie Kin and Haydn Park-Patterson, drummer Lewis Tollan and synth player Louise Mclellan. After receiving an excellent reception for their debut EP Reformation, they're now readying their second Never Crave Attention.
Both EPs have been recorded with producer Dan Austin, best known for his work with Placebo and Mallory Knox.
What Do They Sound Like?
The Ninth Wave take their cues from the darker ends of indie pop, think Interpol at their most bombastic or White Lies at their very, very best, mixed with the power of early Echo And The Bunnymen.
Why Should I Be Excited?
They mix huge melodies with ambition and big ideas, it's a winning formula.
Can I Hear Something?
Absoutely. Their new jam 'New Kind Of Ego' is featured below for you:
