hmv's Next Big Thing... #194 The Vryll Society
Every Wednesday we recommend a brand new artist who we think you're going to love. This week we bring you freewheeling Scousers The Vryll Society...
Who Are They?
The Vryll Society are singer Michael Ellis, guitarists Ryan Ellis and Lewis McGuinness, bassist Lloyd Shearer and drummer Benjamin Robinson. Hailing from Liverpool, the band were discovered by Alan Wills, the sadly departed drummer in local legends Shack and the founder of Deltasonic Records.
Deltasonic has released albums from The Zutons, The Dead 60s, The Little Flames as well as The Coral, but have been dormant for some years following Wills' tragic death. Now though, it is being reborn with The Vryll Society and their ace debut album Course Of The Satellite.
What Do They Sound Like?
This is expansive, dreamy, psychedelic pop. Starting at Dark Side Of The Moon era Pink Floyd and flavouring that mixture with Can, The Coral and Vangelis.
Why Should I Be Excited?
Huge soundscapes and hypnotic rhythms, these lot can make six minutes fly by.
Can I Hear Something?
Of course. You can check out the spacey 'Andrei Rublev' below and pick up their debut album Course Of The Satellite here in hmv's online store.
